Vereinfacht erklärt: Der Benutzer stellt eine Frage. Das System sucht relevante Informationen aus Dokumenten, Datenbanken oder einer Wissensbasis, beispielsweise aus hochgeladenen PDF-Dateien. Die gefundenen Informationen werden dem LLM als Kontext bereitgestellt. Das LLM erstellt anschließend eine Antwort auf Grundlage dieser Informationen. Kurz gesagt: RAG = LLM + Dokumentensuchmaschine + Antwortgenerierung auf Basis gefundener Dokumente.
